HEALTHCARE

Durability

Healthcare facilities see a high level of foot traffic, which leads to rapid wear of finishes. Stripping and re-coating of floors, disrupts operations and can expose staff and patients to harmful VOC’s.

Chemical Resistance

The use of cleaning agents, hand sanitizers and disinfectants in healthcare facilities can damage traditional floor finishes. Repairing compromised acrylic finishes involves lengthy dry times and the challenge to effectively blend re-coated areas.

Anti-slip and Safety

While other finishes can provide gloss, they can also make floors slippery. Healthcare facilities must balance the need for a hygienic environment with safety, ensuring that the wax does not increase the risk of slips and falls. This is especially the case during stripping.

Surface Contamination

Many floor finishes contain organic materials and compounds. These organic compounds can serve as a nutrient source for bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms. When these organic materials break down, they can provide the necessary nutrients for microbial growth. Over time, soft floor finishes become scratched or worn, creating small crevices where dirt, dust, and organic debris accumulate.

Accessibility Constraints

Maintenance often needs to be scheduled around patient care activities, which can limit access to floors for regular stripping, waxing, or re-coating. This can lead to a backlog of maintenance tasks or floors being maintained in a less than optimal condition due to time constraints.

Durability

MINERAL ARMOR is easy to install, with minimal disruption to patient care or facility operations. It is odor-free, has no VOC’s and dries quickly. It will not yellow, never has to be stripped. Ongoing upkeep is easy and can be done by the facility cleaning staff.

Chemical Resistance

MINERAL ARMOR’s glass-like ceramic structure is very hard (Mohs hardness 5.5). It resists scuffs, abrasions and stains. If a stain does occur, the effected area can be burnished to remove the stain, then a spot coat applied that will seamlessly blend with the rest of the floor.

Anti-slip and Safety

MINERAL ARMOR is UL-410 certified as “slip-resistant,” enhancing the safety for patients and staff. It also eliminates the hazardous task of stripping floor wax for the facility maintenance staff.

Surface Contamination

MINERAL ARMOR has a pH above 11, this creates an inhospitable environment for the growth of microorganisms, that thrive on soft finishes and neutral pH habitats between 6 pH and 8 pH.

Floors maintained with MINERAL ARMOR REJUVENATOR, remain protected. Each application leaves behind a thin layer of silicates, building on previous ones and filling in micro-abrasions and maintaining the pH on the floors surface.

Accessibility Constraints

MINERAL ARMOR provides a safe, sustainable, easy to apply and maintain floor protection system. They never need to be stripped again, greatly reducing disruption of healthcare operations. Maintaining floors is easily done by the facility’s cleaning staff, freeing the facilitates maintenance staff for other tasks.
